2011 Ducati Diavel

After months of speculation and spy photography the long wait is almost over, the Diavel will make its first public appearance at the EICMA International Motorcycle Show in Milan 2-7 November.

Officially announcing the new model’s name ahead of the official presentation, the famous Italian manufacturer is about to turn another dream into reality, using the local Bolognese dialect word for “devil” in naming their new model Diavel – pronounced Dee-ah-vel.

The idea for the name was born early in the development process of the bike, when the prototype was assembled and wheeled out in front of a group of Ducati engineers and technicians for the first time. One person looking from the rear of the bike saw its silhouette and exclaimed in Bolognese dialect: “Ignurànt comm’ al diavel!” Meaning: “Evil, like the devil!”

From then on, Diavel became the internal nickname for the project, which Ducati now makes official as it approaches the upcoming unveiling in Milan. Reminiscent of how the “Monster” was named 20 years ago, the Diavel is now destined to follow the same Bolognese tradition, shaping the future of motorcycling while staying faithful to its heritage.

Built to have a commanding presence, though lightweight and agile like all Ducatis, the Diavel will take the man-motorcycle relationship to the next level in absolute comfort. For connoisseurs of technology, ABS, Ducati Traction Control and Ducati Riding Modes will deliver a confidence-inspiring sophistication while stunning looks, the Superbike-derived Testastretta 11° engine and 207kg (456lb) of authentic Ducati performance will drive a comfortable sport lifestyle that could only be dreamt of until now.

The DIAVEL is on its way….

2011 YZF-R6

The R6 is designed to do one thing extremely well. The 2010 Daytona 200 winner is back and ready for the street or track.  Light, powerful, and bristling with knowledge gained from years of racing, the YZF-R6 is the most advanced production 600cc motorcycle Yamaha, or anybody else, has ever built. YCC-I®, Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake, is used on the R6 to vary intake tract length for excellent cylinder filling and a broader powerband. On the higher-revving R6, its benefits are even more pronounced. Compact, lightweight 67mm x 42.5mm, 599cc DOHC 16-valve, liquid-cooled titanium-valved four-cylinder has a compression ratio of 13.1:1, for great response. Domed pistons with valve cutouts produce a compact combustion chamber. Deltabox® aluminum frame incorporates GP thinking in terms of engine positioning and rigidity for the ultimate in 600-class handling. Four-way adjustable (preload, high-speed compression, low-speed compression and rebound damping) inverted fork with 41mm tubes increases freedom in setting up for street or track use; soak up the bumps and resist bottoming when braking. Multifunction digital and analog instrumentation features: programmable shift light, digital speedometer, analog tachometer, dual tripmeters with miles-on-reserve function, odometer, water temp gauge and lights for neutral, high beam, low fuel and turn signals.

2011 YZF R1 red 2011 Yamaha YZF R1 Review and Specification

2011 YZF-R1 red

On 2011 the YZF-R1 is the only production motorcycle with a crossplane crankshaft. Crossplane technology, first pioneered in MotoGP® racing with the M1, puts each piston 90° from the next, with an uneven firing interval of 270°- 180°- 90°- 180°. This uneven order does an amazing thing… it actually lets power build more smoothly. That means smooth roll-on delivery out of the corners, with outstanding tractability, followed by very strong high rpm power. It’s a feeling that’s simply unmatched, like having two engines in one: the low-rpm torquey feel of a twin with the raw, high-rpm power of an inline four. This breakthrough technology on the YZF-R1 represents a paradigm shift in both technology and performance. Crossplane crankshaft technology proven in victory after victory on MotoGP® machines provides a high-tech uneven firing interval. Unlike typical inline-four engine design, where the two outer and two inner pistons move together in pairs with 180° intervals, the crossplane crankshaft has each connecting rod 90° with a unique firing order of 270° – 180° – 90° – 180°. This overcomes the inherent fluctuations in inertial torque during each engine revolution, and the accompanying peaky torque characteristics. Instead, combustion torque continues to build, giving the rider more linear throttle response with awesome power and traction out of the corners. The frame has a combination of uncompromising rigidity where needed along with carefully achieved flex for the precise rigidity balance this bike needs to give the rider the full benefit of its handling and engine characteristics. It is a sophisticated combination of Controlled-Fill die-cast, stamping, and gravity casting… the exact technology needed for each portion of this advanced frame. The instrumentation includes everything a rider wants to know, including gear position.

2011 Yamaha FZ 8 2011 Yamaha FZ8 Review and Specification

2011 Yamaha FZ8

2011 Yamaha FZ8 All-new 779cc engine combines new top end components, including ceramic-composite-coated cylinders and forged aluminum pistons, with a carefully optimized crankshaft to deliver the perfect power curve and torquey performance character for this category. The FZ8 fills the gap for sport riders who feel a 600cc is too small and a 1000cc is too big. New 779cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, inline 4-cylinder, 4-valve engine delivers smooth power delivery and gobs of torque in the low to mid rpm range. But this engine also lets loose with eye-opening horsepower when the revs climb toward redline. Cast aluminum frame uses the engine as a stressed member and allows for optimal rigidity balance, light weight, and superb handling. Six engine-mounting points help provide superb longitudinal rigidity.  Mass-forward” naked bike styling is accentuated by the headlight design. FZ1-style instrument cluster features a great looking tachometer with a white face.

2011 Suzuki GSX-R1000 Blue

The GSX-R1000 is a motorcycle that has been fine-tuned and developed on racetracks and on asphalt around the world. It’s a machine that resolutely defines dominance, having won an incredible seven straight AMA Superbike Championships in a row. With its class-leading engine, chassis and suspension technology, there’s no question that the GSX-R1000 is the undisputed superbike of our era. New for 2011: The GSX-R1000 is offered in a new Metallic Triton Blue/Glass Spash White finish with updated graphics as well as a Solid Black/Metallic Mat Titanium Silver.

The class-leading GSX-R is powered by a 999cc four-cylinder powerplant with a bore and stroke of 74.5mm x 57.3mm and a compression ratio of 12.8:1. This engine delivers enhanced throttle response across the entire RPM range and offers high potential for racetrack performance. The engine is built with high-quality titanium valves, forged pistons and shot-peened conrods. The back torque-limiting clutch incorporates the Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) for light clutch pull and optimum clutch performance. This cable-operated back-torque-limiting clutch makes for efficient clutch operation with superb feel. The GSX-R1000 is equipped with a compact twin-spar cradle frame made of five cast sections. The frame is paired with a one-piece die-cast rear subframe and an arched swingarm made of three castings.
