Ducati 1100 S Silver

The Monster 1100 takes the basic formula of the model 696, and ante up with the L-twin engine cooling air that grew to 1078 cc. Few changes, including single-sided suspension, new wheels, and a few mechanical tweaks. The ‘S’ model we tested used a variety of carbon trim, including the silencer guards, front fender, and most prominently, the engine cam belt covers. Below it are the ones that cover plant that produces 95 hp and 75.9 ft-lbs of torque. Seat height 31.9 inches in 1100 to grow, and the rear wheels are 180mm thick.

The 1100 comes with a 43 mm Showa forks (which are fully regulated and internal features uprated, unlike the 696), and dual 320mm disc brakes with four piston calipers and radial. The ‘model of the premium $ 2,000 S’ will be justified by Premium Öhlins front and rear suspension, carbon trim, and saving a few heavy items that shaved three pounds from the standard weight of the dry 1100 (total £ 370 for others.)

The 1100 Ducati Data Analyzer system adds (while 696 is the “DDA Ready,” and views on the handlebars MotoGP instrumentation reveals a simple style with a digital speedometer and tachometer bar graph, like the 696.

The Ride: Ton Character, Not Weight Ton
Straddle a Ducati Monster 1100 S, and you will see the profile of the narrow and relatively light weight. And given the model ‘S’ weighing only 15 pounds more than 696, it was a great accomplishment.

The 1100 Monster is a bit of cold air from the peculiarities in the category-plus-liter sized bike naked, which included the likes of Triumph Speed Triple that produces 35 more horsepower, but it also weighs about 46 pounds bigger.

After the ship Duc, who snapped the L-twin and a little ride posture is committed to providing a strong presence. There are nice low-end vibration from the engine, and after getting up to temperature, can be attractive to many low-end torque and real waves in power above 3,000 rpm. The gearing is high and dry clutch is relatively light, and the shifter is clean with easy to find neutral. Although we experienced some false neutral during the first few days ride this Monster, they managed to disappear in the future. Power peaks at 7000 rpm and the engine redlines at 8000 rpm moderate, revs feels less than you would squeeze water from the cooling equivalent of three or four cylinder engines.

But the Monster 1100 S is a lightweight and agility reversed. Brembo brakes is only as strong as you expect them to be and that is easy and intuitive handling, although the saddle is tilted forward, which creates discomfort on long trips … at least to feel quite close handlebars, and foot position isn ‘t is not comfortable, making up around the city easily.
The Bottom Line: A Solid Ride Hard Sell That Cost Conscious Buyer
The Ducati Monster 1100 S is the character “” bike, one personality trait that offers preferred over strong naked motorcycle that occurred significantly cheaper. Its air-conditioning machine is intended to keep weight to a minimum, and premium component is directed more towards the direct handling of the velocity. In fact, it’s hard to imagine that just 15 horsepower more than 696 offers the Monster (though weighing only more gradual, and offers more than 25 ft-lbs more torque.)

The most surprising aspect of the 1100 S was that he did not feel $ 5,000 is better than 696; may have more power and a larger cap, but not exactly scorching performance, while 696 came across as earnest, honest, bicycles. For immediate acceleration and performance, the fans would be better served with Ducati Streetfighter naked and very aggressive, bicycles are far more horrible than the Monster 1100 … and for the rest, they just might find that they are very satisfied with the lighter, more affordable 696.

Ducati launched the new Monster 1100 and 1100 versions of the smart moves that enhance the lineup for three members of the Monster (if you count the Monster 696), each offering a new kind of pleasant. This is the first out of ten new models that Ducati announced to launch until 2010.

Exterior:
Meanwhile, as modern as possible, the Ducati Monster 1100 and “corresponsive S” model is characterized by classical form, sanctify the name of Monster in the first place. Much like the strong-selling Monster 696, which features a large tank lid was replaced and the electronic instrument panel. Trellis framework does not allow a lot of V-twin engine which will be shown, but there are many other things for the joy of seeing. For example, aluminum single-sided rear wheel suspension ensures 180/55-17 will make a big impression with the radius of the Y-types, such as the front 120/70-17, one not. This is a stylish lamps and mirrors fitted in the scenario.
By simply standing back and seeing the bike is easy to realize what attracts many people. Basically stripped down to essentials, the Monster 1100, as a smaller brother, was the roadster in the truest sense of the word. This shows the agility and performance from first sight. Look at the rocket launcher that was claimed as a silencer.
Our favorite is the one that was painted red on the bodywork and the frame and features silver wheels, but other color options are: Silver (with red frame and silver wheels) and Black (with black frame and silver wheels). Also, the “S” advertising model Red (with red frame and wheels of gold) and Pearl White (with black frame and wheels of gold) as an alternative.

Price
The second biggest losses in 2010 and 1100 Ducati Monster 1100 S definitely has the suggested retail price. At an MSRP of $ 11,995 to $ 13,995 for standard and special models, there is a more tempting alternative to consider the infinite, including those mentioned above.

Conclusion
You really have to be a fan of the series Monster to consider buying one of two 1100s (mainly the far more expensive “S” model) because of all the problems find out that you are buying a motorcycle that’s right for your taste, not sharp, the fastest and the strongest, but a modern classic with a taste for speed and smooth engine performance.

Ducati Monster 796 Review and Specifications

There are some strong similarities between the new Ducati profile, high and very successful Monster Multistrada and long established company. Multistrada has been thrown into the established categories are dominated by a single manufacturer – class adventure bike, a BMW has been making his own – but not simply copy what is there, it put a spin Ducati is on the theme.

This is what the boss Massimo Bordi Ducati is aiming to do with the original Monster in 1992. His brief for the designer Miguel Galluzzi is to create a cruise ship, for the tone of the sectors defined by the Harley-Davidson, but clearly seasoned with Bolognese sauce. The result was so successful that few people even realize Monster is a cruise ship, even when they behave just like the owner of the Harley Sportster. But the overlap between the two is big enough, with both sets of riders interested in the cap badge, as much as driving style and adjust their own bikes.
Updating a motorcycle as an icon as the Monster is fraught with danger, so with some anxiety that Ducati Monster launched its all-new 696 two years ago. Not to worry: by maintaining the look and feel but the modernization of travel (and the cost of running, which split in two), the 696 became the first Monster that sell in five figures in one year, 12,000 in 2009 to help Monster achieve total sales of 225 000 to-date.

For the year 2009 with Monster in 1100 joined the 696th. This new 796 slot between the two thanks to the 803cc engine has been developed for the Hypermotard. Closely associated with the 796 engine in 1100, with the same kind of air cooling, single overhead, 90-degree V layout and valvegear desmodromic, so that always promises to have lots of character.
It is a pulsating sound, like a V8 at idle interesting that morphs into bubbling snore when under the weight and spin. The thrust evenly spread across the rev band, with particularly strong mid-range is a perfect fit to use the road everyday. The whole bike was shaking when you open the throttle, that may interfere with some motorists, but for many people it’s just talking to your motor.

What is untypical Ducati is suddenly in the throttle response around town, where bikes can be used most. Twist the grip and jerked 796 forwards uncomfortable, make up urban areas are more relaxed than they should. In all other situations refuel fine, the bike showed the same desire as muscular stablemates, and performing well beyond the punch 86bhp, especially in countries curved path.
Riding position was a little town, with bars nearly one inch (20mm) higher than in 1100 and seats 3 / 8 “(10mm) lower – due to lower than the seat-suspension sets itself (although this re-formed) and for reasons The same that 796 is slightly higher than 696.
Urban rider will love the action clutch, which is almost bewildering light thanks to a smart design that self-servo (clutch plates squeezed together by the engine torque under load, so the springs do not have to be so strong). span lever is adjustable, too, because it is the brakes.
Monster handling is typical, which means the front end and suspension of sensitive will find some too hard, especially because the bike can kick around on bumpy surfaces with speed. But directing a beautiful and brakes well enough for this class.

On the downside, reading speed in a digital dashboard can be difficult to see, and had a small 3.3 gallon (15 liter) tank is further shrunk to 3 gallons (13.5 liters) if you specify the ABS. It’s capable of 50mpg, but often you will see the low fuel warning light before 100 miles.
Ducati also offered alternatives to big, bolt-on paint schemes. Cost of 450 pounds, this came as a body kit including side panel fuel tank, tailpiece, the instrument cowling and front fender. See full range here.
As in 1100 and 696, the 796 is a highly involving and exciting machines. This high-quality componentry so it feels good, very large machine characters and motorcycles responsive and natural. A shame about the throttle suddenly, but this is still the bike to fall in love.
